In this ecofeminist reimagination of a classic Puerto Rican story, Hostos’ youngest daughter, María Angelina, asks her father to make her a paper boat for her birthday, and that night when she falls asleep, she awakens aboard her ship out on the Mayagüez Bay. Like this a great adventure begins where the girl meets ocean creatures, confronts a monstrous hurricane, and with a last effort makes it to Cuba where the wise Doña Ceiba helps her return to her family’s home in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
